The Covenant House...doing good for the community.

The reason why I chose to do my activist project on The Covenant House is because I think it is one of the biggest problem in Canada and I witness this daily. The Covenant House is Canada's largest shelter for homeless youths. Homeless itself is a big enough problem but homeless youths is even worst and it totally breaks my heart when I see this. Toronto downtown is full of homeless people on the streets and I see them daily on my way to Much Music. The covenant house opens a lot of opportunity for the homeless in Toronto. The Covenant house is more than just a place to stay, they provide 24/7 crisis care and have the widest range of services under one roof, including education, conselling, health care and employment assistance. With these kind of opportunity, it can change a life on the street to being successful. Kids on the street can be dreadful because there are limited knowledge and skills about life and without support can lead to a dangerous future. I support The Covenant House 100% because no body deserve to live on the streets and to be able to provide support can change the world into a better place. In the future, I will take my time off to volunteer in the shelter. People need to understand that homelessness is not an option, people who are struggling through this have many problems with family, friends or school.
